February Culinary Dinner – Laissez les bon temps rouler

Our February dinner will take you way down south to New Orleans for a special Cajun MARDI GRAS FEAST. Chef Edwin Caba, known and admired by many here in the MSSF Culinary Group, will treat us to an exotic (at least for us Californians) menu.

We meet at 7 pm on Monday, February 7, 2011, at the San Francisco County Fair Building, Golden Gate Park, 9th and Lincoln, San Francisco. Reservations are required and must be made no later than Friday, February 4, 2011. Make them early. We will accept no more than 60 reservations, including cooks. For this dinner, please register using the mssf.org website Calendar link. Go to the February calendar page and click on “Culinary Dinner” February 7. Then you can go to register for this event and sign up. You must be a current member of the MSSF to make reservations for yourself and your guests.

All Culinary Group dinners are open to MSSF members in good standing and their guests. The dinner price will be $25, $24 for seniors and students. Be sure to bring your own tableware as the venue provides only tables and chairs. Don’t forget your linens, including a tablecloth or place settings. We are no longer using up our natural resources to cover the tables and then throw away. Bring dishes and utensils, of course, and your favorite beverage. Chef Edwin says that both wine and beer go well with the menu. Be sure to bring an appetizer to share. Mushrooms in your appetizer will be especially appreciated at this dinner as they are not on the main menu.
We encourage you to carpool. Check the list of participants to see who is going in your area.

Our world famous raffle continues with the esteemed Curt Haney at the spinning cage. Donate something interesting and appropriate for a group of mushroomers and you’ll receive 5 free raffle tickets. Tickets are $1.00 each or 7 for $5.00.

We will seek your help cleaning up the venue after dinner so don’t run off right away.

Our next dinner will be March 7th and after that April 4th, then May 2. Mark your calendars!
