MSSF Library Update
Curt Haney

The MSSF library is open for business. The Randall Museum was renovated in 2020 and there is no longer any space available to store our library at the museum. A few society volunteers helped me relocate our library cabinets and books into our permanent storage unit in San Francisco which is climate controlled.

A complete inventory of books and other items in the library available for members to reserve is located on the MSSF website. Just go to the “members only area” and click on Library. Reserve the books you would like to check out and a message will be sent automatically to the librarian. You will then be contacted so you can arrange a date and time to pick up the items from the librarian in San Francisco.

The library now contains 780 books, etc. Each year the librarian receives a budget to purchase new and interesting books for our members use. Last year we purchased 50 new books and we also received many book donations from members, which were incorporated into our library. $200.00 in more new books will also be purchased soon for our members use. The library is also a great resource for students.

Items in the library can be checked out for 30 days and renewed for an addition 30 days if needed.

When in-person MSSF general meetings resume, members will be able to reserve books in advance on our website and then pick them up and return them at the meetings.

I am also looking for one or more assistant librarians. Contact me if you are interested.
