Fungus Fair

KO

Well, after an incredible windstorm on Friday evening through Saturday morning, the air is clear and balmy and perfect for a non-fungus fair day on Sunday. COVID is down locally, and Tilden Park was full of young people masked and eager to be in nature.

Theresa led a group of us around for our part in the annual foray. Among those was a very informed “just a beginner” with excellent skills in Latin and two wonderful kids, one a natural born mycologist and the other a natural born naturalist so we discovered not only mushrooms but reptiles and insects.

It was so nice to be around energetic people with positive attitudes, working together, yet independently as we looked for mushrooms. Needless to say, the five-year-old mycologist spotted many mushrooms first.

As for the Fungus Fair, a lot of work has been done that could be extended into a December 2022 Fungus Fair...
