Our Election Process is documented in our bylaws, Article 5, Elections and Term of Office. J. R. Blair is Nomination Committee Chair for 2021-2022 (Paul Koski and Alan D’Souza are the other committee members).  The nomination Committee will present a proposed slate during the March Council Meeting for the coming year. That slate, as confirmed or altered by council, will be presented to the general membership at the April general meeting.  After that, any 5 MSSF members may nominate any member for any office, by sending the nomination in writing to the secretary. Depending on whether there are any additional nominations, the election will be held either before the May general meeting (the annual meeting) in writing, or in person at the May general meeting.

A Survey of All Members will be coming to you in March.  Please watch for the survey and respond with your thoughts and suggestions.  The information that comes back to the MSSF Council will be used to inform programming for next year.
We have seen strong interest from members for forays and offered activities with MSSF.  We are looking to reschedule our Fungus Fair for the first weekend in December in 2022, hopefully at a San Francisco Venue.  The January 23, 2022, event canceled due to Covid, was ready to go, so calling up our 147 volunteers for December may be a piece of cake!  We will need to staff a few lead roles to manage coordinating food activities, craft activities and marketing activities.  All are welcome to join our effort to relaunch the MSSF Fungus Fair.  We have a theme established to highlight the ecological role of fungi in natural systems; forests and soils, and to understand more about how fungi might play in the climate change expected to continue into our future.
Please continue to record your photo observations using iNaturalist as the regional diversity picture continues to grow with each observation recorded.
A foray is planned for Saturday March 19 to explore Lichen in our environment.  Registration for this walk will open on mssf.org this week.  As the Morels begin to appear, we’ll let you know as soon as MSSF forays are scheduled.  Reservations are first come first serve.  Members only.
A second tincture workshop is scheduled for March 26 from 1:00 to 4:00 in Berkeley.  Reservations are first come first serve.
